Game2Work Summer Jam
Date: August 1st, 2nd, and 4th from 9:00am - 3:00pm
This Game2Work Summer Jam seeks to empower youth to make the changes they want to see in their communities using games as transformative tools. In this program, participants will be encouraged to make choices to contribute to the development of a game and learn design principles for games and learning in a space that will emphasize social connections and creativity.
The program also supports skill development in areas necessary for individual and collective wellbeing by embedding learning goals across five areas of social and emotional competence: self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, and relationship skills.
Additionally, this program introduces learners to computer science foundational skills by using a simple game engine called Bitsy. Students who participate in the program do not need to have any prior experience in programming nor be experienced with video games.
This three-day workshop series is for youth 6-8th grade.
